Kiev: First Impressions

Kiev Wedding by Robert Burns
Kiev Wedding by Robert Burns

7th January - 2nd February 2010

Glasgow photographer Robert Burns befriended the Dimitriev family from Kiev while on holiday in Crete during September 2006. On returning to Glasgow he kept in touch with the family by email and decided to spend Christmas on the 7th of January 2007 with the Dimitrievs in Kiev. This visit was the start of a love affair with the city and its people. The Drum (Baraban) Bar and Restaurant near Independence Square, run by Euan MacDonald from Kelvinside became Robertís office where he lunched and planned his daily shooting script.
